Capacity Building and Partnership

Since its inception, MI’s thrust has been to work in partnership with grassroots organizations and their networks in rural areas and urban slums in South, North, and Northeast India where rehabilitation services have made little inroads.

The scope of MI’s support to the partners encompasses

  • Strengthening the capacity of grassroots organizations, developing human resources in all aspects of rehabilitation to deliver quality services
  • Establishing/upgrading prosthetics/orthotics workshops and therapy facilities.
  • MI’s mobile workshop has been providing services to far-flung areas, thereby bringing rehabilitation services to the doorstep of people with disabilities.

This unique approach has been conceptualized with a view to helping communities become self-reliant in the rehabilitation of the disabled and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in rural areas.

MI has supported 124 partners across South, East & North East States of India.

Established Orthopaedic & Therapeutic facilities for 65 partners in 19 States.

52,601 people with disabilities benefited through the Assistive Devices &therapeutic interventions. MI has established close linkages with several others through its CBR projects.
