MOBILITY INDIA SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS BLOOD AND ORGAN DONATION CAMP ON SATURDAY 6TH DECEMBER, 2014

Mobility India (MI) organised GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE, an ‘Inclusive Blood and Organ Donation Camp’ at its Centre in J. P Nagar, Bangalore on December 6, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 4.00 PM. The enthusiastic team at MI created posters and banners with slogans like ‘Donate and give the gift of life’, ‘Leave a legacy of life’, ‘Loss of one life could be the beginning of another’ and displayed them at prominent places in and around Mobility India centre, in order to achieve active participation. Registration forms were doing the rounds among the staff members, supporters, and others associated with MI who planned to get together for this noble cause. The Red Cross Society collaborated with MI for this camp. Their trained personnel were present at the centre to draw the blood units.

A special feature of this camp was that volunteers with personal experience of disabilities were among the participants.Speaking on the occasion, Albina Shankar, Director, MI commented, “Mobility India strives towards the betterment of the standards of health and welfare of people and is renowned for its rehabilitation initiatives. December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities worldwide. What better way to mark it, then to have an ‘Inclusive’ blood and organ donation camp, wherein people with disabilities equally participate as donors.”

She further adds, “Through this camp we wanted to build awareness and a positive attitude towards a noble and healthy practice like blood and organ donation.Blood transfusion is needed in situations like accidents, poisoning, burns, or even childbirth. In addition, for patients with blood diseases like anemia, blood cancer, thalassemia, repeated blood transfusions is the only solution. An organ donation can literally mean a new lease of life for someone. We wanted to inspire more people to come forward, and have a long term impact with such an initiative. ”
