ORTHOTICS & PROSTHETICS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (OPAI) ORGANISED TWENTY SECOND NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Orthotics & Prosthetics Association of India (OPAI) organised the Twenty Second National Conference, scheduled on 12th-14th February, 2016 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
The theme of the conference being ‘ABILITATE ASSOCIATE HABILITATE’, it aims at providing a platform for exchange of technology, views and expertise among the Prosthetists & Orthotists and allied Rehabilitation Professionals.
Mobility India presented 8 papers during the conference. Ms. Krishnaveni and Mr. Sanyam, final year students of the Bachelor in Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO) course awarded the first prize for their scientific paper presentations. Mr. Madesh Naik and Mr. Yeti Raj received the best student awards for BPO course for 2014 and 2015 respectively. Ms. Sangita Naik received the best student award for Masters in Prosthetics & Orthotics (MPO) course from AIIPMR for the year 2015.
The conference brought extreme proud moments as well as presented a great learning and exposure platform for the professionals and students from the rehabilitation, prosthetics & orthotics and allied domains.
SUCCESSFULLY ROLLED OUT 4TH BATCH OF WHEELCHAIR SERVICE TRAINING PACKAGE-BASIC LEVEL, 8TH-12TH FEBRUARY, 2016
The workshop was altogether a vivid and enriching experience, with 24 participants carrying immense knowledge and expertise in their respective professions. Evidence based training delivery enhanced the dynamism of the workshop many folds.
The interactive sessions were quite beneficial to the trainees and the trainers too. 14 people with disabilities, in the need of wheelchairs, were assessed and fitted with the same tailored according to their needs. Participant’s involvement with the service users went beyond the disability, wheelchair service delivery, encompassing other functional, social aspects and also their participation in all the aspects and strata of society.
When asked upon their feedbacks, most of the participants were congruous making the statement “the practical sessions illustrating referral, assessment, prescription and fabrication of various wheelchair components were quite helpful. Working closely with service users has enhanced our confidence level as well as our knowledge”.
