He is the former President of the Spinal Cord Society (India) and served as the former Director-General of the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, New Delhi. Dr. Mukherjee has also acted as an advisor at the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office His contributions extend to the realm of academia, as he has authored several books and published numerous articles on disability in both national and international journals. Notably, he was a member of the Drafting Committee for the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and served as a reviewer for the 'World Report on Disability' by the WHO.

She has experience in the prosthetics industry in the United States, where she worked for approximately eight years.
