Eligibility Criteria

For Indian Students:  Candidates who have passed the two year Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State or alternatively, any other examination recognized as equivalent, are eligible.  In particular, they must have completed their studies with English as one of the languages, and physics, chemistry and mathematics/biology as optional subjects. Moreover they should have secured not more than in  50% in aggregated across these relevant science subjects (i.e., Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics), provided has been passed individually.   

For SAARC/NRI/Overseas students:  Candidates must have passed ‘A’ level conducted by any Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education bodies established by their respective countries, and importantly, recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system in science by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).  Additionally, they must have studied English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects to be eligible.

Note: Students  belonging to SC/ST and Category I, the required marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology are reduced to  45% (instead of 50% ) in aggregate for eligibility.

Lateral Entry:  Candidates who have completed a Diploma in Prosthetics & Orthotics approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India  are also eligible and may be admitted directly to 3rd year of the  BPO course.  However, they must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics as optional subjects. In addition, in-service candidates may be permitted to complete their internship at their parent organization. Furthermore, admissions will depend on seat availability in the 3rd year.

Course Syllabus:  The theoretical components of the course include subjects such as  Basic Life Science, Materials and Applied Mechanics, Biomechanics, Computer Science, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopaedic and Amputation Surgery, Electricity and Electronics, Pharmacology, Research and Prosthetics & Orthotics Sciences. In addition to theoretical learning, the syllabus incorporates  six months of compulsory internship.

The theoretical and practical learning includes Advance Lower Extremity Prosthetics & Clinical Gait Analysis, Advanced Lower Extremity Orthotics & Clinical Gait Analysis, Research Methodology & Biostatistics, Mechatronics, Applied Biomechanics & Kinesiology, Advanced Upper Extremity Prosthetics, Advanced Upper Extremity Orthotics, Advance Spinal Orthotics, Pedagogy in P&O Education & Administration, Management & Ethical Issues and Dissertation.

Candidates who have passed Diploma in Prosthetics & Orthotics approved by Rehabilitation Council of India shall also be eligible for this program and shall be admitted directly to III year BPO course year, provided they have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics as optional subjects. In-service candidates may be permitted to undergo internship at their parent organization. Admissions will be on the availability of the seats in 3rd year.
